Didn't you hear Compaq just paid $3.3 million to buy the altavista.com domain? Compaq has no plans to spin off Alta Vista. Most likely they want to compete with the likes of Yahoo, and since Compaq PC's are already pointing to the Alta Vista site (via their new internet button), I think Alta Vista has a shot at becoming as big, if not bigger, than Yahoo!

You guys still have it backwards--Alta Vista will spin off CPQ!

Maybe they'll even issue shares of CPQ as a dividend each year.
