As someone mentioned on this thread earlier today, a bear market will change the public's attitude toward the President and, for that matter Congress too. Nixon was undone following a bear market. A bear market would undo Clinton.

Clinton's troubles do not influence the price of stocks. However I think this administration is one of the most "market conscious" ones I can remember, and it will do all in its power to prevent a bear market crash from occurring before the next Presidential election.Pumping up liquidity and leveraging international relations and currencies to "encourage" foreign investments in US stocks.

I remember reading somewhere ( can't recall source) that banks are starting to really load up on stocks. Just think how much influence the Fed and Treasury have on banks and what clueless investors they seem to be.

Just some thoughts.

Monty; You notice that after the fact most of the news pundits
always have an answer, or point at something that caused a up or
down move and it's always related to NEWS , this is one of the self serving ways they try to keep you glued to the tube. And toot
their own horn..
Seems they can most always find what they can call a reason..if not they just switch to talking about powerball or politics or such.
But by and large the news is more propaganda than news.
-----------------
They make themselves out to be the experts, but if you check out
their trading record you find out they are not so good.
I read an article on that some time ago but don't have it handy.
The WSJ, and Forbes and most others that were checked had rather
poor trading records yet these are the supposed experts.
They are so expert they tell us who the experts are,
but put them in the pits and they can't trade squat <G>
