RED-HOT INTERNET IPO?!... Used to be
redundant, right? Well, this is one that didn't quite work. I
mean it didn't fail, but, relatively speaking.... Cyberian
Outpost (symbol COOL) an online retailer of computer
hardware and software. This was a BT Alex. Brown
deal, and everyone thought it was going to be another
WHAMO job. It opened at $18 and was halted. First,
everyone thought it was off to the moon, but it was up
only around $2.50. Winfield Cap, which owned many
shares of COOL, was as high as $13 today, then
closed at $6. Winfield Cap, believe it or not, was at 50
cents earlier this year. Was the slow IPO just the deal?
Or the fact that Net stocks are fading?
