Tony: The market gurus are predicting that the Ahmanson merger will not be that smooth and earnings because of dilution may be sub par.
This is a difficult call as it appears based on sentiment not fact.
Nevertheless, the big boys have reduced their holdings.

It may be prudent to hedge till we see the results of the merger. I think it will be Q4 or Q1 of 1999.

I am not entirely comfortable with what is happening.
