Your response to my question concerning liabilities was as follows:

This is a incorrect and misleading statement. For financial reporting, the holding company must consolidate the balance sheets of all subsidiaries of which it owns more then 50%. Therefore all of the debt of the acquired companies are part of the holding company for valuation and reporting purposes.

In owning EDII stock, which is the issue here, the shareholders shares in the assets and liabilities, including debt, of all EDII subsidiaries and affiliates. One cannot responsibly discuss the assets without acknowledging the respective liabilities.
