No Steve, these are not the rules, but an ideal, one that I thought should be self evident. I'll reiterate:

I'm not aware that my soap box is any higher than of other's. I have no problems with anyone's right to express themselves or take a contrary stance to mine. As long as they are grounded in facts.

I also agree with you that we are here to help each other by exchange information and opinions, entertaining or otherwise. But the posting of misinformation helps no one.
