I queried my local Radio Shack today. They're excited about the new "wall of PCs" coming soon. CPQ will be providing 10 demo units to this rather small store.

The salesman said he liked the premise better than their arrangement with IBM. The CPQ units are not for sale but the store had to sell the IBM demos every six months. "They always came back with lots of problems", he said. He also liked having zero inventory and no damaged packages to handle.

Pounding keyboards at the local "Shack" is a lot more appealing than flipping the pages in a Dell catalogue. IMHO, a joint marketing TV blitz could generate a ton of business.
