I actually looked up Gorillas in one of my animal books for that answer, so it is factual.

ABI aka PKN:ABD, has historically ripped off their customers with outrageous pricing on the sequencing supplies and short lived stuff like the special glass plates that sandwich the gels (I recall $300 for a small sheet of glass cut to fit). INCY made constant efforts to second source the supplies, at much lower costs of course, which pissed off ABI to no end. In the old days, ABI had a reputation for voiding your warrantee on equipment if you didn't use their supplies (which of course wasn't legal). They discontinued the practice a long time ago, but not the attitude. Face it, they don't make much money on the hardware, they make it on the supplies.

<<<<<<<What do they do when the genome is largely sequenced and others own the intellectual property.>>>>>>

There will always be more genomes to sequence! Lots of organisms on this planet, and by then we will be inventing new ones.

Where y'all going on vacation? You taking a nanny for the baby, or you guys going to do the mom and dad routine solo in a different setting? Man I sure don't miss hauling along all the baby crap: swing, portacrib, walker, etc., etc......

Have all sorts of fun!
