Hi, 0|0, and Dan.
Great jobs, thanks...I tend to side with NightOwl on the last point, for simple reasons. There would be more insider buys in RCOM if the takeover model were correct. (one would think that even an alliance would stimulate more insider activity than we have seen.) Still, it takes awhile for the SEC reports to come in; the insiders can stall. I think that only George S. has reported recently.

Hitachi makes the microprocessor for the Mondex card, and would like to produce a card with FRAM, according to an e-mail some time ago. The major market for Hitachi FRAM was thought to be cellular phones. So far I would accept the 'low yield' explanation rather than the conspiracy theory; Hitachi would be selling them if they had the process perfected.

Visa et. al. are said to be stalling since the bank card industry is skeptical about the smartcard as a profitable business, and fraud is large but not overwhelming -- they get away with outrageous interest rates to balance defaults and fraud. Thus, HP and RCOM might take the view that e-commerce or transportation apps are better starting points than general replacement of magstripe cards; networks also need security cards. I assume that larger memory is helpful in regard to biometric data or the like, as well as support for multiple apps.

Regards,

Logan
