Johnathan,
<<<<<<<I have noticed about this thread is no one
ever says when they SELL. >>>>>>>

I have noticed that many of us say we have sold. Many of us left APCO at its highs..that doesnt mean we didnt agree with the amigos on APCO, we took our profits and know that we can re-enter. We can make up our own minds about it by following their thoughts on the issue. I have seen many people say that they have sold cade/airm/ also for the same reasons. Just because Jim says he is buying an issue doesnt mean that we blindly follow his decsions. I think that we are all smart enough here to make up our own minds. In the TAVA issue that you are talking about it would have been a good trade yesterday. I have traded TAVA before but I am leary as to why it is re-acting like it is...
I have GE in my portfolio too, and I dont sell it, and I wont! It is one of the best performing stocks I own, not everyone would agree with the way I feel I wouldnt expect them too.

I sold APCO <at the high months ago>
I sold AIRM <and made aprofit, plan to re-enter>

I dont think it matters what I have or what I am going to do with it..does it?
Should we start a new thread on what we sold? I just dont understand what you think you are contributing to the thread. Your opinions could be very constructive to the thread. Instead it seems you have another mission here. Why dont you ever give your opinions of any of the stocks? Thats called discussion, and thats what this thread is all about....its not about a vendetta to seek and destroy the ideas of the amigos or anyone else that posts here.

Sandra

Johnathan, I rarely give people like you the benefit of my time but I think I can help you. I don't believe you understand how to use this thread. The idea here is to post whatever you want to and let the people that read it decide for themselves if they find it interesting enough to research it as to come to there own conclusions. If anyone follows the information found on this thread (or any thread) blindly then they are foolish and should not be in the market. If Jim Strauss (or anybody) wants to post what they bought and at what price and never post when he sells that's OK because I make my own decisions and live with them, I do not care how much money Jim (or anybody) has made or lost in the stock market I am only concerned with how much I made or lost. I also do not care how good or bad the Amigofolio does because again it is not my portfolio it is theres. I have followed up on some of the information posted on this thread and found some of it quite useful and some not so useful. And the day I feel that this thread no longer interest me I will not berate the other posters I will simply remove it from my bookmarks and that will be the end of it. You seem to be more concerned how much money the Amigfolio has made or lost and to discredit the originators of this thread. The thing you don't understand is we all enjoy this thread, make our own decisions, and hopefully learn something in between.
So what the Amigos, Jim Strauss or anybody picks as stocks to invest in is there business and they can post about if they want and I can research if I want (and I wish them luck and thank them for there posts as I find them interesting)
Joe
P.S. This will be my only response to you. Good luck in your own investments.

>>> James Strauss' posts of "I bought more today" about TAVA, APCO, and CADE during the last month are great for a laugh; if he really buys when he says he buys but never SELLS, he gives a whole new definition to the term "averaging down." If he DOES in fact sell, but never posts when he does so....well, that's probably why he feels at home on this thread.<<<

I guess you're wrong again....

Here is a recent post where I said I was selling...

Message 5335282

Other Amigos have done the same thing... If this is the type of research you do when buying stocks, you're in trouble...

Jim

I for one I have always announced my sells, but I don't think it is a prerequisite----but over time I noted quite a few announcing a sell,Jim Strauss just recently posted that he might have to unload some of his RECY if it didn't start to turn--many people announced when they sold their CADE--but the thread is not systematic,it really is just a let's kick ideas around board--and as it says in header-"anything goes".
BTW,I kept no secret that I had got caught in mis-timed trade with NEWZ--and IF this turns out well for me--well fact is good and bad luck is A PART of trading and investing, and that is a fact.Max90

I think your observations are on the mark. To be honest, I initially started posting my thoughts on this thread because I think it needed an infusion of reality and honesty. Here you have a group--the "Three Amigos"--that refers to themselves in the third person constantly (i.e., "The Three Amigos do not engage in daytrades" or "The Three Amigos feel the stock is a good buy") but refuses to accept any kind of accountability for their collective failures. Face it: with a few exceptions, the picks that appeared here have been abject disasters. If the Amigos think their skill and success warrants recognition (as they apparrently do, by creating their own thread here, their own website, appearing in the SI Magazine, etc) then let's see them be HONEST about it. Make picks as a group, and update the group's neglected portfolio once a week so no one can hide the large number of failures behind the occasional success.

Consider that a challenge. It is a reasonable one, but one I guarantee will not be accepted.
