I spent some time this weekend updating the latest listed earnings estimates for the group from First Call for each of the 41 stocks. This is one way of looking at good candidates for investment. As we all know, the estimates are notoriously unreliable, and can change considerably from one day to the next, nevertheless, stocks that have good earnings estimates for the next 2 years are worth a second look. The table below is sorted by estimated next years earnings. Last Friday's close is shown in the first column. The last column is a calculation of next years PE ratio based on using next years estimated earnings and Friday's closing price. It is just an aid to look give a quick "figure of merit" to each stock. If you can believe the earnings estimates, some of the stocks represent some good buys, but many of them were beaten down some more this past week.
