I can't answer the second question (yet) but the first can be found here:

Frank,

There are still some companies moving forward in the video/cable arena. In the June 29, 1998 issue of Interactive Week, NBTel is scheduling the launch of xDSL expressly for TV/video over IP by year's end.

I have to agree with you--the heavy demand for data/internet access is changing a lot of business plans from every industry player. The plight with xDSL is beginning to run it's course. More and more businesses and consumers are realizing that they work/live outside of the 3 mile CO zone and xDSL is not available.

Wavepath utilizes the MMDS standard for robust and private LOS transport. They use the 6MHz QAM downstream-6MHz QPSK upstream allowing for re-use of frequency efficiently in 5-10 degree "pie shaped" sectors. "Sectorization" architecture can provide full spectral capacity(transmitting over different polarizations on the same frequency from the same geographic area) to a market the size of the Silicon Valley.

Frank, are you asking about who manufactures the equipment needed to transmit the signal?
