Kyle, I just checked the short interest in this weekend's edition of Barron's, (7/27/1998), and found the current short interest for CIB. As of: July 15, 1998 there were: 673,500 shares short, whereas on June 15, 1998 there were: 640,300 shares short. Hopefully we will begin to see some short covering soon. Also take a look at the news releases from Banco Santander, (NYSE:STD), notice that Banco Santander de Colombia, actually turned in greatly improved results this past quarter or half! Check it out.

Recent Ratings. I just did a little research on CIB this afternoon, in June 24th 1998, edition of S & P's Credit Week. They described the current situation, which they felt would not be much of a problem for the larger and stronger institutions. They rated; BanColombia, Banco Ganadero and Banco de Bogota, BBB (actually BBBpi to be precise). Additionally in the July 8th edition of Credit Week they discussed their perspective on the election of Andreas Pastrana as President. Also here are the Short interest numbers, as found in Barron's, for BanColombia, (NYSE:CIB): Date ---- Number of shares short March 13, 1998 ---- 277,325 shares April 15, 1998 ---- 552,769 May 15, 1998 ---- 626,885 June 15, 1998 ---- 640,300 July 15, 1998 ---- 673,500 I hope that they begin to cover those shorts soon!
