Jim,

I'm glad I was able to save you and some others a few headaches. I've never posted in any of the brokerage threads before. Next time I try one I will peruse the thread on it first, though.

I'm a tough critic. I was annoyed at Brown and Waterhouse one or twice when I thought they should "bust" a trade and they didn't but each of them OFFERED to bust a trade on occasions I might not have even asked. It's really the day to day availability and reliability and good service and good pricing that have made them both tops in my book. If anyone ever hangs up on me at either one of those brokerages, I am confident that staffer would be FIRED for it. Really. They are just professional outfits who know what they're there for. You only appreciate it when you deal with a place like Web Street where you can't even get your BUYING POWER accurately and quickly. Aaargh. And you can't get a check for the amount you asked on the day you asked, ever! My blood boils even to think of these things.

If you just need courteous efficient communications and executions an accurate service, you'll be happy with both Brown & Co and Waterhouse as brokers. You'll never have to beg Ryan, the margin clerk to fix the quote system for you, either. (Ryan must be a major stockholder or a partner in the company. Otherwise, he'd be fired for lying to his customers by now.)
