Jeff, if you were on vacation, and I saw a sinister looking character hanging around your house, I'd call you if I were a friend. I'd say, "There is a sinister looking character hanging around your house, and it does not look good." If you ignored me, and the guy broke into your house and stole everything, I would not be happy. I would not enjoy it. I wouldn't even say, "Hey, I told you so." I would feel bad. Should you choose to hang around your house waiting for the burglar to bring back your stuff, and hoping for good news from the cops, I would think you much too optimistic. That does not make it my fault that your house got broken into, unless you want to make a leap and decide that since I called to warn you, I must have been in league with the burglar and took a cut of the spoils.
