<<Transamerica portfolio manager Philip Treick doesn't buy the conventional wisdom about cheap stocks not getting hit as hard as highflyers in a downturn. Nor does he manage the fund to outperform during periods of market weakness. What he does do is run a concentrated portfolio of growth companies with established franchises that are delivering high "cash-on-cash" returns. Such stocks should be somewhat insulated from ugly market cycles, he opines... Treick's $75 million fund holds 26 stocks that can be volatile.
