>>COMS thread. What be your response to this "Ghost" query regards Ascend acquiring Stratus???<< When I first heard about it, I thought to myself, "How could they screw up knowing they are a top pick for LU?" But, I read through the thread, and there appears to be more to the story, than the first look. If the company they're acquiring truly has voice technology that is hard to get, and ASND knows how to create value from this combination, then they may be making a good move. I have to assume that management knows the basics. Hopefully, their ego is not getting in the way...maybe they think their better than they are...I don't know. Just seems that need to be pretty darn sure that this acquisition will improve their situation. >>My optimism for COMS is that we are re-modeling, we have all the architects and sub-contractors in- house and are initiating our new business plan. Do you feel as though our dust is settling and ASND is scrambling for more talent necessary to compete?<< As far as intellectual capital, I've always felt that COMS was ahead of most. That's one of the main reasons, I 'm putting my $$ on them. Truly, COMS has way more potential than they are valued at or that the "street" seems to place a value on. Maybe, the problem is that the potential can't be exploited right away, and the 'street' doesn't reward companys for potential. They reward companys for the short term earnings profits, quarter by quarter. >>Is CSCO a dinasour??Are we the more nimble Chrysler of networking compared to the GM's out there?<< Good question. Switch routing, ethernet gigabit, etc. seem to be surpassing CSCO. But, they want to get into the teleco equipment space with voice & data, so the above may not be that much of a concern. CSCO also knows a lot about marketing and establishing credibility, and satisfying customers... the business side vs the techie side. >>Basically what's your gut feeling on COMS future????<< Good future if they can execute. Competition will be tough, but if they can use their expertise to an advantage, and hopefully that's what Claflin can help show customers, then they will be a mighty powerhouse. Also, I believe, they seem to have more expertise in the "convergence" of voice and data, compared to anybody else. This is a big dark horse, that isn't given any value at all by the market to COMS, and nobody talks much about. When "convergence" gets bigger, I'm counting on COMS to surprise quite a few. This next quarter COMS will cut expenses, and maybe increase sales a bit. Good incremental improvement. Also, future products (transition products) will show good growth. I'm hoping that the 56K modems show some improvement and future potential. I still think this is an important part of the company for a while.
