hi neal,

believe shlomi's right.. all indications from the last orctf conference are that gte is going strong...

also think that it is important to remember that fujitsu is probably the more important name in the gte adsl deal.. interesting that the analyst didn't phrase the issue as gte dropping fujitsu... if gte were to drop orctf they would have to drop fujitsu as the two are joined at the hip on this one.. (mutually exclusive n. american dsl partnership)..

also orctf and fujitsu recently expanded their relationship (europe and asia)...purportedly based on their success in the usa... if things were really going that poorly, would not think the relationship would have expanded...

in any case.. orctf cc put the gte rollout as maybe reaching 50,000 lines by year end... hope it's lower .. for the sake of the bottom line... til adsl margins turn positive, less is more... hopefully win tenders now and they can kick into full swing q2 99... ;)

gte related rough transcription from the last conference call:

best wishes

from q2 cc : questions

since you shipped most of the adsl towards the end of the qtr, what sort of growth would you expect sequentially in q3... ?

regarding adsl shipments... it is difficult to give a quantitive number about the growth because when we get an order we ship them within 30 days....but based on all the info we have both verbally and forcast we believe that gte is going full force in the deployment... you can see in the public domain in some of the publications that some analysts predicted volume of about 50,000 lines this year.. i think that they may meet this number plus or minus..

relative to what you expected during the offering what has worked out better and what has worked out worse?

nothing worked out worse... the things that worked out better, was the adsl shipments started earlier than expected... when co's initiate service usually there is a delay.. no delays here.. not a delay in telia as well.. we were kind of surprised by the growth of hdsl in q2 .. .. bottom line nothing worked out worse... we were better than expected...

gte... what sort of response they've had for the service offering since it has been available ?

from what we get from them it is a very positive feedback... you can judge from the quantities they are ordering and based on the fact that the installation is going very smoothly without any problems...

any movement from other carriers in the usa?

all of them are moving to this service..we are talking to all the rbocs, with the clecs and the other companies.. in different stages of discussion at this stage... there are some announcements in the last few months of other carriers that intend to move into these services... some of them are already offering it... i think that gte is the most aggressive based on quantities and scope of services they are offering...
