There is a bunch of talk about market sentiment being overly bearish, and that this is a good sign for bulls.

I have not seen any charts of readings of sentiments for bearishness during actual bear markets. It HAS, afterall, been a spell since we had one. I can't imagine there being much bullish sentiment in the middle of a secular bear market. So, this makes me wonder how good this is as an indicator. My gut tells me that bearishness usually doesn't matter, and then one day it suddenly does.

Does anyone have any data on the ratio of bearish/bullish sentiment during the heat of a bear market.
