I agree with your assessment on floppy disk based on my long period
of time in computer field. Look at Sun Micro system's ultra, Sparc
machines, they don't have floppy disk, but a tape drive/CD-ROM. It's the
same in IBM, HP and other brands. I believe floppy disk is a thing of
the past because of its extremely-limited storage which constrains the process
as well as computer security.

Most of the data now contains graphics/image or complicated database
which may need more than 10 floppy disks and hence it's naturally be
installed in either tape or CD-ROM. I barely used floppy as a media
to transfter the data, rather, I use FTP or e-mail to send or receive
the data internally, or use CD-ROM/tape to get it externally.

I believe Apple's attempt will be accepted and its approach is logically
reasonable from professional judgement or conventional usage.
