On the topic of Ericsson: I remmber seeing, somewhere on these boards, speculation that Ericsson wasn't doing well in the handset arena (hence the recent decline in ERICY), and so VLSI was likely to get punished. I couldn't find the actual post, but in any case here is some offsetting info from the latest Ericsson earnings press release:

<Mobile Phones & Terminals showed an increase of 19 percent in sales and a strong operating income. Ericsson has very well defended its share of the market for mobile phones during the period. Ericsson is particularly strong in the digital mobile phone segment.>

While that is, without doubt, not as good as the growth at Nokia or Qualcomm, it is still respectable, and indicates to me that VLSI orders from Ericsson should actually be up over last year in the next two quarters. (During the VLSI CC, they implied they would be at approximately the same level as last year, but in any case that is a huge improvement over the current low levels which were a result of Ericsson and others working off inventory.)
