Offhand I can only remember one store specifically . . . it was while I was recently up in Montreal (And the only reason I remember that store is because that's where I bought my pack for my upcoming trip to Europe). . . the store was called Baron sports and I believe they have a website at baronsport.com . . . (Sorry, I don't know how to do active links.) Anyway, what I asked the person there was basically what I asked others . . . . I asked if they carried the "Quicktent" tents (Was especially interested in that while I was up in Canada . . . for if Quicktent had reached our friends to the North, that could be seen as a good sign.) . . . He explained to me that they did not carry them and probably never would. So I asked why and asked if he'd ever tried the tents. He said he had tried the QT's once and would never try them again. (He was the one who said that they were rather gimmicky . . . not I . . . I only relayed the comment.) He said that while they may be fairly easy to open, they can be hell to put back. Which would seem to make logical sense since the parts ARE all attached . . . getting them to all fit back in the carrying bag could be quite an endeavor. Further, he said that no experienced camper would probably ever buy it, since for them it doesn't take long to put up a tent anyway, and the standard tents would be easier to put away.

I know that this isn't what you WANTED to hear about QT, but I feel it is pertinent to anyone trying to make a decision whether to buy the stock or not. Given the SI environment, I understand the concern over shorters and bashers, but I'm just sharing the information that I uncovered. I believe if you check my past posts on other threads you will see that I am never one to bash. Like I said before, I was researching this stock with the interest to buy. When I was looking into the stock, I did go to the website of course and read the testimonials and saw the video. The video did seem rather impressive, and intuitively it sounded like a good idea. However, if QT isn't going to be able to make inroads into specialized mountaineering stores and is instead going to be sold out of Walmart, it would seem to me that it isn't very well respected among those who know.

Once again, that is just my opinion . . . Call your own places and ask yourself . . . Better yet, go out "tent shopping" . . . and see whether you find that the QT is in fact the tent you'd want to buy. You may find different results than I did . . . I'm just sharing what I found out.
