Although I'm a novice at shorting (on paper only),
i would find those picks that have broken down the 50 day ema as shorts and WEAK picks..

If you're buying -- leaders and strong stocks.. Logically speaking, shorting will involve the weak stocks.

WDC, COMS, APM, SGI, etc.

those come in mind..

Again, my approach is the risk/reward. you want to short the weakest stocks.

Bob: I shorted Dell when it was easy-- after the last earnings report. The whole declining ASP stuff made it very easy. The trip down from 95 to 85 was about as good as one could hope for. But now?? Forget it. Dell, for me, is a buy on the dipper until earnings. I do not think it will go over 115 again. As for short candidates, stocks like PSFT look at lot better. But I do not want to be short this market: I am planning on buying OEX puts. After the moves in price I saw after Fri's debacle, there's plenty of dough to be made on even a small position. I used to take huge positions in stocks-- no more!! A little here, a little there, that's for me. I think we are on the verge of something important, and I don't want to be long, for long.
