Okay, Duncan, if you disagree with the constitutional argument in that article, can you cite court decisions which reinforce the militia interpretation? I always ask that of pro-gunners, and would be really interested to read some recent court opinions that support that interpretation of the second amendment. Anyone diagramming it as an exercise in sentence construction would see that the militia part is quite important to the meaning, however.

I believe that sentences for crimes committed with guns should be quite severe. I am not sure why you think I believe otherwise. I hope you have not fallen into the trap of believing I am a liberal, because in many ways I am quite conservative. However, since most guns used by criminals are stolen in residential burglaries, I do hope you understand where the criminals get their guns at least, and see the connection.

What is the reference to Switzerland in your post? It seems like something was dropped.
