I am curious as to why you are such an exceptionally strong supporter of Inprise.

Let's see, I began with Turbo Pascal v2 and almost 10 versions of different compilers and languages. I've made my living on INPR/BORL tools for most of my career.

Do you buy their products? If so, do you buy them in volume for your department

Good thing I don't have the job of buying for a department, otherwise, I'd probably buy the same stuff 3-4 times over :-)

I assume you've done very well with holding on to Inprise shares.

No, I haven't done well with the stock. Being too strong of a supporter means that I'm overly optimistic at the tops. To do well in INPR/BORL one must trade. This is no MSFT or CSCO as you've mentioned. INPR is good for skeptics like you to trade in. They can see the tops much better than fans. Because the stock gyrates wildly, theoretically, one can still get a respectable return trading this stock comparing to buy and hold the monopolist.

But I don't have to do well in this stock to support the company. INPR/BORL made my job fun and enjoyable. They represent choices and freedom for programmers. How much does one value freedom? Buddhist monks used to burn themselves in Nam for religious freedom. I don't know why more programmers don't fight for this freedom. Instead, they accept poor working condition of VC++ (that's real hard work) or VB (Very Bad language!) To use VB is like saying we all should be driving Yugo just because the richest man in the world think that it's a great idea and flooded the world with cheap Yugo parts.

Thanks, now I'm on the watch list in Redmond :-)
