Near as I can tell, Yahoo! is poised to be the next AOL.
They've got content, message boards, e-mail, portfolio tracking.
(I also like their Yahoo! ticker program, which is great if you've got a full-time 'net link, with nothing else to do ... ;).

Basically, if Yahoo! womped up a custom net-interface program that had the look and feel of AOL, and did a deal with WorldCom or some other infrastructure provider, the joint venture might be able to collectively take subscribers away from AOL. Open interfaces are better than closed ones, "if you love it, make it free ..". (if I had to pick an over-hyped, over-priced net stock, it would be YHOO, not AOL). I think AOL can easily become the next Compuserve if they don't watch out.
