A Few Light Whitewater Moments from Mike Barnicle

The Boston Sunday Globe
8/2/98 Mike Barnicle

From time to time, Mike Barnicle muses on the state of the world with a "I was just thinking..." column. Here are some tidbits from today's column.

Not that it really matters but...When the Clinton Library is built, do you suppose there'll be a special booth for phone sex?

I can remember when Washington interns had difficulty getting sublet apartments; now they get total immunity.

Because Monica Lewinsky apparently doesn't believe in dry cleaning, I'd be willing to bet she has really bad breath.

What do you figure the president's definition of safe sex is?

Clinton will be the first president to be a regular on Court TV.

Here's my idea of how to reform education, eliminate truancy, and make school incredibly interesting for kids: hire more teachers like 32-year-old Julie Feil, who was convicted Friday of criminal sexual conduct for doing the nasty with a 15-year-old boy in her Hastings, Minn. high school class because she fell in love with him. Sort of the same kind of "hands-on" approach Clinton has brought to government.

Hillary must be really proud, hah? I mean, think of the progress we've made: Nixon was asked to produce a few tapes while Clinton is going to be asked to produce a DNA sample.

When liberals are told that a couple has been sentenced to jail for forcing a 7-year-old to smoke cigarettes, drink liquor, and have sex with an adult for money, they say: "Cigarettes? That's awful!"
