I use it to get the IV of the stock and plug that into the options toolbox from CBOE. That way I can play out scenarios. I've also tried correlating the graphs of IV vs. stock price to see if I can take advantage of any kind of trend. E.g sell a straddle when the IV is high or buy it when the IV is low. It seems like when a stock is in a long uptrend the IV trails off. That might be a good time to buy a straddle, say 4-6 mo's out, and profit from a fall in the price or a continuing uptrend.
