Intel is trying to maximize shareholder value

If they put AMD out of business while doing this, they may gloat a little. But, IMHO, they will not try to but AMD out of business at a loss to their own shareholder value.

Some people on this thread do not realize that this is business, not war! Similarly AMD will take market share from Intel on a business basis, not to gain a pyrrhic victory. A pyrrhic victory for AMD is bankruptcy, for Intel it's more trouble with the government. Both companies will try to avoid these contingencies -- while competing with one another.
