don't be so sure. Some of those co's on your list have REAL prolems already and the economy hasn't even gone into the trough of the cycle yet. Even the one's that don't have probs yet could have seriously depressed share prices for years. Never let taxes deterimine investment strategy.

why let taxes influence your trading? mkt tanks, you would rather pay the taxes and hold the REAL profits.

trade some in an ira acct if you're worried about taxes.

Why not sell covered calls on issues like DELL, MSFT, CSCO, LU, and AOL? The premium is huge, especially to DELL and AOL. Mt strategy is to sell some nice calls and buy back the calls when the stock prices dip. In this way, for example, I have made more than 12 points on DELL without even selling a single share in the last 2 weeks. Like you said, to sell into tax is really too painful to, all of us.

Expect to buy back MSFT in 6 weeks at a lower price. The DOJ will give us another chance to load up Sofite.
