Bear Market 73-74 Dow peaked in Jan. of 73 at 1051...by Dec. of 74 Dow had
lost 45% of value to 578. I Don't think that it is impossible to fall to the 6000 area
ever again...but I do feel it is unlikely !

Agreed but a new attribute has entered into the picture over the past 10 years and that's the constant inflow of retirement money. As was pointed out on an earlier post, this simply wont dry up...it could however slow. Certainly a 20% correction is possible...but surely anything above 30% does not seem all that possible unless folks begin thinking that the stock market isn't a positive retirement planning choice. Also note that most investors these days haven't seen a bear market...they see "corrections" then jump back in. This mentality will hold up the market IMO.
