I remember reading something in the San Jose Mercury News about Intel buying rights to the Alpha to settle the DEC patent infringement lawsuit against Intel. Later I read that Intel wasn't continuing with the development of the Alpha (not invented here?). This was before Compaq purchased DEC.

I am a little confused about the previous posts about Compaq and the Alpha. Do they own the rights to it, and if so what happened to Intel's claims.

Thanks for any info and sorry if this has been dealt with previously.
