Bulk Sampling Commenced at M1 Pipe - Marsfontein

KLIPSPRINGER PROJECT - SOUTH AFRICA

TORONTO, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - SouthernEra Resources Limited (SUF - T) today
announced that the Marsfontein Joint Venture (60% De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd., 40% SouthernEra Resources Limited) commenced confirmatory bulk sampling of the M1 pipe overburden on the farm Marsfontein 91 KS in South Africa on 3rd August, 1998.
Approximately 20,000 tonnes of overburden will be processed at
SouthernEra's 100 tonne per hour treatment plant during the month at a grade that will be determined. Subject to a satisfactory outcome of the De Beers due diligence study, mining of the M1 pipe itself is expected to commence in September.
These activities demonstrate the ability of the Marsfontein Joint Venture to successfully develop and bring the M1 deposit into production.
