This will also make the second computer in the household be in a black desktop case, so you can place it on top of your stereo receiver. This fashionable black desktop case will have both a cable modem and regular modem for versatility and of course a DVD player. The technology is here as I essentially have this setup (put together from parts) with an ATI all-in-wonder card, wireless keyboard w/touchpad and a GyroPoint mouse.
I don't know why someone isn't marketting this setup right now, because why wouldn't someone pay a few extra bucks for a surf/DVD machine when they are paying $400-$800 right now for a straight DVD player? The most logical would be Gateway, but a white case sitting next to powder-black stereos and TV's just won't cut it.
This same scenario though, restricts the migration to digital speakers on a USB port, because it will be space & cost prohibitive to change speaker types, especially when you've stacked your PC with your stereo amp setup.

I find it interesting that our cable company (Sonic/Charter) is more interested in going public so they can be bought out by the big players and issue a bunch of stock options for themselves, than actually promoting and investing in a cable modem service. These small players in the cable industry may have a rude awakening when instead of having their monopolies bought out, they instead get squashed by "Open-Access" and a big player like AT&T/TCI.
