MediaRing Turns Computers Into Internet Telephones for 3Com Modem

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998--MediaRing, Inc. announced
plans to bundle its MediaRing Talk(TM) software with 3Com Corporation's
(NASDAQ:COMS) U.S. Robotics(R) modems to deliver a complete Internet
telephony solution for dial-up modem customers.

MediaRing Talk software turns PCs into telephones, ready to receive Internet calls
around the clock allowing users to call anywhere, anytime and talk as long as they
want for $4.95 a month.

3Com, whose U.S. Robotics(R) modems claim over 54 percent of the
retail market for dial-up modems(a), will incorporate MediaRing into
its Connections(TM) CD-ROM in late August, 1998. Connections is 3Com's
Internet access starter kit and software bundle packaged with all U.S.
Robotics-branded modems.
