TG,

I believe the child born in the US with parents who are foreign citizens has the option until the age of 18 to choose which nation he wishes to be a citizen of. In some circumstances you can opt for dual citizenship. I was born in this country but both my parents were German citizens at the time. My mother is still a German citizen. I am a US citizen however I believe that even now if I wished I could contact German authorities and claim German citizenship. However I could no longer renounce US citizenship and would have had to do so before I turned 18.
