I believe they do have short memories, unfortuneately. Also, headlines such as "Research Alert: Tellabs, Ciena cut" imply one train of thought, while those who don't bother to read that it's for SHORT-TERM are the same individuals who invest by the seat of their pants. I can't imagine daytrading either Ciena or Tellabs, but there are those who do. I can't imagine NOT reading the news releases, but there are those who only read headlines. Also, remember Tellabs' prior quarter's announcement was preceded (by a day) with a cut by one Merrill Lynch analyist who didn't do his/her homework. How embarrassing that must have been!
