<<I take it that neither of you perceive that sales did not really grow Q2 over Q1 internally or that it doesn't concern you because of the product transitions taking place. >>

Yes. Both Q1 and Q2 were transitional quarters in that in Q1 they made the acquisition and took the charges, acknowledging some Xyplex revenue that was "pre streamlining".

In Q2 they began the actual streamlining and integration of Xyplex.
Just like you can no longer break out Fibronics revenue, you can't (easily anyway) break out Xyplex revenue.

I also believe MRVC left some revenue in the kitty for Q3, which is traditionally slow in Europe.

Perhaps one of the technical experts like Jack could explain the importance of the dynamic aspect to MRV's WDM vs the static nature of other WDM products. Could a 4x WDM system that is dynamic be really more powerful or useful than a static system that is 16x or 32x or 64x or whatever Ciena is up to?

Robert,

I don't know much about WDM. I'll look into it, but I am about to be on the road for 4.5 weeks straight, and I do not know if I will have access to the internet. I have today and tomorrow to pass a M$ test, and then it is off to customer sites and school.

To all: Xyplex contributed only 5 mm to the latest quarter. All other sales were under the NBASE name. Now Q2 1997, let's see if I can remember the numbers, was around 39mm in revs. If MRV did 75mm in Q2 '98 and only 5mm was from Xyplex then around 70mm of the earnings was from NBase. That's 76% growth. The problem right now is not the Pinks. The problem is a "LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL BUYING." Ok, now that I've said it for the hundredth time is anyone listening. Why was PRU on the offer yesterday...well yes, they had a seller. Why was the investment banker selling??? Well see my posts about laying off against the bond. Have the people who've shorted that stock against the bond been wrong? No. Are they done? No. My associates and I figure that there is a wall of approximately another 1mm shares to be shorted as soon as this sucker can scrape its way back up to 22. So be ready.
