Mutual fund conference room scenario (rights reserved)
Bunch of guys in white shirts and power ties sitting around discussing how to invest the daily $10-15M inflow
Dick (older Buffet type): Glancing at the WSJ. What do you think about that ASND/SRA thing?
Bob (younger tech-knowledgeable type): I think we should jump on it. Deal makes sense. ASND is well-positioned in networking field, doing well against CSCO in telecom/carrier market, and LU may acquire it after 10/1/98.
Dick: Ahh, CSCO and LU -- what great stocks. Too bad I missed them. What does ASND do again?
Bob (getting a little testy): Networking. Ya know, Internet backbone, ATM, remote access, SS7, data replacing voice equipment.
Dick (looking out the window): Maybe we should snap up some CSCO. No one ever got fired for buying it.
Bob (getting agitated): Well, CSCO is a great company, but it could be a little overvalued at this point. ASND should have a nice "easy money" run from $45 to $70 with limited downside. Nice risk/reward ratio.
Dick: I don't know. Tech stocks make me nervous. What's KO selling at?
Bob: GRRRRRRRR.....
