A brief comment on the world of web portals, electronic commerce, and online media and information in general. There is an important concept to consider, and that is 'consolidation'.

In these rapidly expanding areas many little companies may hit it big. But I think it is investing folly to try to chase these down unless you really know what you are doing.

The biggest beneficiaries will be the 'big guys' who can wait to see what the trends are, and assimilate & profit from them. Second biggest are those individuals and companies who simply make use of the explosion of information and increased productivity that are available.
