As I remember '88 it was two years before the oaks had a decent mast crop. Also remember the air running 24 hours a day and the electric meter spinning like a top.

That bindweed is a SOB to control. The roots go down several feet to a node and send out runners that form nodes that pop up more weed. Pre- emergent stuff won't touch it and most chemicals just slow it for a day. Too bad it's not smokeable. Spectracide make a weed and grass killer that does pretty good on it but you gotta pull the vines out of the bushes before spraying.
