This e-mail item is from April 30. ---- Carson sends out good-news Cristinas opinion Crystallex International Corporation KRY Shares issued 34,000,000 1998-04-30 close $5.8 Thursday Apr 30 1998 Roy Carson, the Caracas-based Irish journalist, sent to his e-mail subscribers on April 30 a legal opinion about the Las Cristinas dispute that is favourable to Crystallex International. Crystallex claims title to the 11.8-million-ounce concessions in southern Venezuela through the acquisition of local company Inversora Mael. Placer Dome has worked Cristinas since 1992. Dr. Roman Duque Corredor, described as a former professor of mining-and-oil law, says in the undated opinion that the court recognized Mael's ownership in a ruling on May 9, 1991. He adds this decision was ratified by the court in 1996. These decisions are final, Dr. Corredor says, because "they are decisions issued by the highest court in the country." Placer lawyers say they are inapplicable to Mael-KRY's challenge currently before the court. Dr. Corredor adds that Mael's July 1991 waiver of rights regarding Cristinas does not apply.
