> .. TA will like ASND more tomorrow

absolutely true ... also, lets see some volume calculations over the last two days and its implications:

Fri 25M -ve
Mon 20M +ve

Avg is ~ 6M

So you see, the -ve implications of the SRA deal are finally realized by the masses as avg. -ve just for a day! Clearly implying thereby: the Friday dumping was un-called for ... it was clearly a case of herds ... and big-boys in the know took advantage of it, and loaded almost 22.5M shares at an avg. price of ~ $45 ... they must know that something beautiful must be in the offing for ASND, before deciding to pour ~ 1B of hard dollars! I would say LU deal is as intact as it was before ... in fact more lucrative now, since ASND is now pregnant with the inexpensively acquired, but cash-generating SRA baby! ... only thing is that, it will have to wait until 10/01, before LU can make a move. I might further add- the next ASND bull move started here, right now ... and would see it married easily at $75 by Oct-end! When one has the right, critical technology which can make some one like LU a clear leader which can provide one-stop-shop commu'n-equip't experience with impeccable, leading edge technology and peace of mind to customers with its global service and support infrastructure, furnishing liberal takeout funds is not much of a problem! Its a win-win situation, imho.

regards to all,
-/Sonny.

Doesn't look like LU will be interested in XYLN. Nortel 1 meg modem agreement

Nortel Signs OEM Agreement With Xylan to Support 1 Meg Modem Network Solutions

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998--Xylan Corp. Nasdaq:XYLN - news) Monday announced the signing of an agreement that gives Nortel (Northern Telecom) OEM and distribution rights to Xylan OmniStack and OmniSwitch products for 1-Meg Modem network solutions.

About 1-Meg Modem

Nortel's 1-Meg Modem is a splitterless and filterless, mass-market, high-speed data solution that offers
consumers an Internet connection that's more than 17 times faster than the fastest analog modem.

The 1-Meg Modem is being deployed by several United States providers including Transwire Communications
of New York, MegsINet of Chicago, and AGIS Communications of Detroit, and several smaller institutions,
ISPs, and service providers. To date, Nortel has booked more than $1 billion in orders for the product,
representing the potential for more than one million end-user lines.

This plug-and-play service can be installed without a service call. The digital modem has the form and fit of standard analog modems, supporting up to 1 Mbps data rates (and simultaneous analog
voice services) using any existing telephone jack.

The 1-Meg Modem is being introduced on the Nortel DMS-100, DMS-10, and DMS-500 central office
switching systems, as well as the Nortel Meridian SL-100 PBX. It will be available for deployment off
non-Nortel central offices switches using the Nortel AccessNode Express.

-- Carrier-Grade Design: -- -48V DC Power -- Full redundancy available on both power and computing modules.

NEBS compliance: Compliance with Bell Operating Company Network Equipment Building Standards (NEBS).

ATM/OC3, and Frame
Relay WAN interfaces.
