Gabriela....I think that by this Oct. we will see some serious damage but Oct., '99 could have some really severe psychological implications(Y2K, 70 yr. anniversary of crash, millenium effect....) It is amazing how "word of mouth" changes markets. Nothing seems to happen then suddenly everything is moving in a different direction and everyone wonders how they didn't see it coming....all the signs were so obvious.

Gabriela: If bonds and the dollar stay strong and gold remains in the doghouse, market will probably rally sharply once Dow gets to the 8300 area -- where the previous breakout occurred. Frankly I am amazed by the willingness of foreigners to continue bidding up the greenback in the face of our huge and widening trade deficits.

I don't know what will trigger a paradigm shift, but I'll know it when I see it. And that will be the time to bail out of stocks and bonds long-term and load up on the yellow stuff and the miners. But who knows how low POG will go before this happens.

Tough to crack?
How about a slow painful 70's style "correction" where the greater market finds most every day lower to unchanged?!
They'd be running for the exits after only another week or two.
