I didnt say I was counting them out (remember me mentioning Sprint?). There is no way they are out by any stretch. But they are definitely behind and I dont see them gaining IMHO.

Don't for one moment think Mory is complacent, you may recall (I think it was during a CC) "We have a healthy paranoia about Cisco" They are the main competition now in dial up ports thanks to the universal balls-up of the 3Com/USRX merger and the associated modem standards war. Stratus were a strong influence in the SS7/IP convergence area having dealings with ASND/BAY/CISCO and 3Com. However what they have done today it seems is

1. Got a company with a large chunk of the AIN market and with that CREDIBILITY in the telco marketplace, much the same as CSCC had in frame relay area. More so than Lightspeed/Summa Four in voice technology. Telcos are very cagey when it comes to their voice networks, 99.99% uptime is mandatory, debacles like the ATT frame relay thing will not be tolerated and in some places can cause regulators to get very nasty. Track record is all important and the name Cisco hasn't got it.

2. Any nice little licensing agreements they (SRA) may have had with ASND's competition are going to fizzle very rapidly lengthening time to market for competitive products.

By the middle of next week when this penny drops in conjunction with the divestiture plans the money should roll back into this stock.
