" Cashco submitted its Year 2000 Analysis and Remedy program 11th Hour to Microsoft for review."

I wonder why.

Huh??? What's to wonder? It's part of what you have to do to get on the list so you can call yourself a "partner". It certainly doesn't mean that MSFT solicited a copy.

Get real. Would you like one of us to explain how FBNA got its Mitre Listing?

Maybe I can help you here John. To become listed with MSFT requires no submission, just a minimum statement that you expect to market a program in the next six months or maybe even that you are merely just working on something.

There are two reasons for CSHK to submit the program for review. The first would be their Windows Logo program.

Q: What does it cost to get Logo'd? Does Microsoft make money on this Logo program?

A: It costs $950 to test a software application for the Designed for Windows Logo. The testing is performed by a third party, VeriTest. See the VeriTest Web site for more information on VeriTest. Microsoft does not make any money on the Windows Logo Program. Microsoft does not receive any portion of the testing fees, and does not charge royalties for use of the Windows Logo.

Q: How long does the testing process take?

A: Once VeriTest has received your submission, Logo testing will require eight business days or less at VeriTest.

microsoft.com

Q: What is the percentage of products that successfully complete the Windows Logo certification process?

A: Most products do not pass testing on their first pass, but if you account for retesting, the final pass percentage is actually very very high. This is because many vendors change and fix their applications and resubmit their products for retesting.

That was taken from the MSFT site. A second reason would be that they are submitting the program to the editors of their new software column for consideration in writing about the software. But although it is not a stated requirement that it be a logo certified product already you may be sure that it would not get any consideration if it isn't.

Unless they have corrected the deficiencies that I remember from TED's review of the eval, I believe that they will in all likelihood require two passes at the testing to clear the Logo hurdle.

John, before we get distracted too far afield here, what is the name again of that litter supplier that is going to supply CSHK with litter? Since you are going there on tour, perhaps you have changed your mind about sharing that with us.

I'm still puzzled as to why people think this should be kept secret. There must be something to hide here. That is the only explanation that fits after 3 days of asking now.
