Larry, VDSL is scary stuff, and a damn good competitor to HFC. The cost of upgrading is just as much,if not more than HFC. The battle will be between these two wire systems. I am really interested in how US West's VDSL system turns out. I don't expect other RBOC's to follow suit,it will really cost a lot of money, and they are tighter than William F Buckley's butthole.

They are offering this month fiber to the curb VDSL service that has both TV and Internet access over my phone line. 155 channels with dedicated 1Mb internet access and caller ID on the TV.

You know someone was telling me the other day that US Worst is going to offer this in my area (Salt Lake City) but I have nothing to go on but a rumor. You have any links to possible roll outs of this technology? Hopefully I'll get my DSL line installed in September but I cannot count on USW. TCI won't tell me when I'll have cable access because of "competitive concerns". Oh well i guess I'm lucky to have ISDN (At a somewhat reasonable price) for the past couple years. I still can't get it outta my head what great opportunity the Cable Co's have, they really need to push this service out!

Take care
