Ashton Mining of Canada Inc - Kimberlite K-91 diamond analysis Ashton Mining of Canada Inc ACA Shares issued 23,798,122 1998-08-04 close $2.05 Wednesday Aug 5 1998 Also Alberta Energy Company Ltd (AEC) Also Pure Gold Minerals Inc (PUG) Mr. John Auston reports Ashton Mining is pleased to report results of recent analyses of samples from kimberlite K-91 on the Buffalo Hills project in north-central Alberta. Samples from four large diameter holes on K-91 have been analyzed by dense media separation in the company's laboratory in North Vancouver. The samples were taken during the past winter by a combination of core and rotary drilling. Two vertical holes, DDH 91-5 and RT 91-1, were drilled in the northern portion of the magnetic anomaly, and the other two, DDH 91-6/RT 91-2 and RT 91-3, some 200 to 250 metres south in the southern portion of the anomaly. In the table below the weights shown for each of the rotary holes are those calculated for the total volume of the hole. The two largest stones recovered weigh 0.45 and 0.41 carat. Hole RT91-1 was drilled 24 metres east of earlier core hole DDH91-1 which returned 0.287 carats of diamonds from a small sample of 0.21 tonne, as reported on Feb. 9, 1998. The lower results from the recent hole suggest that this zone of higher content is of limited extent. Overall, the results are an encouraging indication that diamonds are widely distributed through the kimberlite. In light of these results any additional sampling will be deferred for the present in favour of identification and examination of other priority targets. The joint venturers on the central Buffalo Hills project are Ashton Mining of Canada (42.5 per cent), Alberta Energy Company (42.5 per cent) and Pure Gold Minerals (15 per cent).
