Chief Inspector Cuts Short Iraq Mission

search.news.yahoo.com

DYW, I think it should bolster the futures price of oil. The sagging price of oil has enabled Iraq to sell larger than expected quantities because the UN agreement of oil for food they were operating under was based upon revenue received. As the price dropped, they were allowed to sell more. My understanding was that they were already selling more than they could produce and were drawing on stored supplies. Lifting the sanctions would have had no practical effect until Iraq obtained badly needed repair parts and upgraded their equipment but not lifting the sanctions can't hurt the price of oil.

Best of luck,

Steve
