Joseph, >>>Developments in the PC distribution channel are being overemphasized. A drawdown of PC inventory is not expected to fix the fundamental overcapacity problem the semiconductor industry continues to struggle with," Kurlak added. <<<

Kurlak talks about the semiconductor industry and the pc business as if they were completely interchangeable and or the same.

It's like analyzing sales of kumquats and oranges in the same market study. IMO, for instance, the overcapacity of kumquat production in a down Asian market has very little direct relationship with demand for oranges worldwide. I know they are both fruits, but the correlation is about the same as saying that in a down Asian market lower sales in kumquats forecasts lower sales of Mercedes Benz worldwide.

Intel has the equivalent of 80% worldwide market share in oranges (an 80% market share in food production is probably a better analogy)and their sales of kumquats is probably equivalent to their sales of chips for their networking products.

Please correct me if I have this wrong.

Regards,

Mary
